Default Does water hurt bondo?

The bondo on my decklid has gotten wet from the garage door. Is this a problem? I know bondo holds water and can rust the metal underneath, but what about paint side effects?

Yeah, you should always prime over the bondo after sanding it down. Bondo, or any other filler acts like a sponge for water.

I've had a few body shop guys tell me that primer also allows water to go through and start rust underneath.

I hope you didn't really use Bondo, and you are just referring to body filler by a generic term. Always buy the body shop quality filler. The Pep Boys Bondo filler is not appropriate for restoring classic autos. It costs slightly more but is well worth it.

eh? "pep boys bondo" is probably useless, but true namebrand BONDO is the original king and still top of the line. i've never used anything but.
