[IMG][/IMG] Just place the www address of the picture between the brackets.

Or you can upload a small picture and select the "Embed picture in post" box down there.

Idea, you are right the wire does go to the - side of the coil. How do you add pics to the post? Thanks

nope. NFI
I've never seen anything that looks like that.

I have asked one of the engineers at work
Hopefully he will be able to tell, but the pics are a little blurry!

Engineer's guess would be a secondary transformer to boost the voltage. Don’t know why they just wouldn’t use a high output coil though, unless they wanted to keep the location of the original coil standard...go see a sparky!

I thought the negative side went to the points.
Yes, I stand corrected. On that unidentified part, where is the wire coming to and from it? In other words, what is it attached to electronically?

The wire lead goes from the negative side of the coil to one side of this THING, then from the other side of this THING the wire lead goes to the distributer. The coil its self looks pretty rough it has a huge dent in the one side of it. We bought this car about a week ago, it has been setting for a very long time. The previous owner was an older lady who had her son do all the work on it. From some of the other things I have already fixed he didnt know much about working on cars, Thanks everyone.
