Default I need a 5/32 tap

Does anyone know where I can buy one? I went to 3 hardware-type stores today and one guy said they don't make them and showed me his fancy chart showing that 5/32 is not listed as a product.

I need the tap for the passenger side window crank.

Find this for me and I'll reward you!!

That's about the size of a 10-32 screw (not to be confused with an inch measurement like you gave).

Edit: There's a place in Denver called Tool Zone that pretty much carries any tool known to anyone. Give 'em a call. I'd stop by there, but you wouldn't hear anything for 24 hours or so...[&:]

Thanks, I'll call them tomorrow.

Apparently you can buy it in a kit for $450 .... I'm willing to drop $75 or so on it but $450 ... only if it buys me dinner 3 times and provides some amazing uh recreation!

Heck, for $450 I'll buy the tap you're looking for, 3 dinners in downtown Denver, and a fun weekend... I may even tap the window crank for you (though bringing up here could be an issue, I'd guess).

Sounds to me like what you are looking for is either a 10-24 or 10-32 tap. 5/32 is .156 in decimal, drill bit needed to tap a 10-24 is a #25 .1495. drill bit needed to drill and tap a 10-32 is #21 or .159

Hm ... I'll call my guy today and tell him that, but he's told me 3 times now that he needs a 5/32 tap ... because I told him I had the 5/32 Allen wrench but that's not what he needs.

If that's what I need, where can I get one? I really don't want to go back to those quasi-hardware stores.

You should be able to get one at about any auto parts or ace hardwear. if he can give you a set screw that he is going to use take it with and the person at the parts counter should be able to get the right tap for your screw.

Thanks - I have the screws here so will hit the hardware stores -- again.

Geez, no dinner, no sex -- hell of a way for this to end.

Got a 10-24 tap. Brought the screw to yet another hardware store (one in a small town where they are very helpful) and he measured, checked, and said this was what I needed. $3 is a lot better than $450, huh?

Thank you very, very much, NC Harley. If you're over 21, I can reward you ...
