supercharging my 289?
Hi I have a 68 mustang fastback with a mildly built 289 in it. I have been looking into supercharging it for quite some time! So I was wondering before I spend all this money. I wanted to know if anyone out there has used the paxton made supercharger? How did it work? What type of gains did you get from it? Any information on supercharging my stang would be greatly apreciated!! Thanks for your time!! -John
If you are gonna supercharge, go with Paxton most def, I have heard they are the best of the best, you can't go wrong with them. check them out at

when you built your 289, what type of pistons and rods did you use in it? also what is the compression ratio? you should have forged pistons and strong rods to handle the extra power of a supercharger and you don't want the compression ratio much above 9.0 if you supercharge it. before you do anything, call the Paxton people and tell them exactly how your engine is built and ask them if they would supercharge it and if yes, what would they limit the boost to so as not to blow it up.
i also have a 68fback and have thought about a blower. the paxton came to mind first
however i own a 2003 lightning with most of the bolt ons and i can post a high 11 second 1/4 mile in a fricken truck. so my stang has to be able to beat it or i will never forgive myself
so a simple bolt on blower will not come close
i went with a 5.0 transplant and a kenne bell the motor is relativly stock
