if you not going out to do any racing is there any benefit to having subframe connectors?

It'll strength the chassis a little, prevent some rattles, prevent flex improving ride and handling, and just help your body last a little longer.

These old unit body cars tend to flex a lot, and subframe connectors corrects that a lot.

You can buy either. The weld-in style is stronger, but harder to install. For either, you'll want to make sure the chassis is properly loaded and level.

You can buy the tubular style or the square style. The square style are stronger and match up to your frame rails better. If you don't have a welder or know how to weld, take the car to a welding shop. You may want to take out your carpets before any welding is done.

it will drive better, ride more like a newer car, and handle much better as things wont be moving around all the time. it adds a considerable amount of stiffness, even the bolt on connectors do. I have bolt ons under my "toy", I will weld them in once I have the cage done, and the suspension sorted out. Already when I put the jack under the car it lifts evenly, the front subframe used to sag pretty bad too. One of the best things I ever did to it, wish I would have years ago.

Ford finally learned a lesson and I have them already on my 03 Mach from the factory.

Anybody know where to get subframe connectors for a 71-73?

Maier racing out of Hayward makes some nice ones for the earlier cars, seems like they would not be that hard to make from scratch.
