Soaring,
I actually never told you how much I bought it for so how can you judge that I wont make any money off it? I can GAURANTEE you that I will make money off this car. And more than 2K. Not to be rude or anything but I hate it when people tell me i wont make any money off restoring mustangs. I have already done 3 and made $5000, $6000, $4500 so dont tell me I wont make any money. 2 of the last ones I have had people told me the same thing. Some even said I would lose moeny and I should just sell the car right then. Makes me laugh

And while I'm at it, look up "judge," why don't you? Tell me what Soaring said that was judgemental in the least. You can't jump into a forum and label anyone that disagrees with you as "judging."

[sm=jawdrop.gif] Damn this guys' got ballz. Instead of asking "which is worth more" you might have asked "which can make me more money" or something like that. Anyway, thanks for the laugh.

The phrasing of your question is somewhat off-putting to me. If all you want to do is "make money" off these cars, then do what you want. You've clearly got a proven track record; so why ask our opinion? Just make another candyapple red coupe and sell it for all you can get.

judge is a probably the wrong word to use but you get my point. I dont want people to "jump to conclusions?" without knowing all the info.

n8rfastback,
I really am not looking to keep it. I just want to make money in a fun way. I have seen shelby clones on ebay and around that are going for a lot ($12K+). I could probably swap the aftermarket parts for stock parts and not lose any money but I could keep them if I went with the clone or the first option.

tidying up a car to make money is not the same thing as restoring it...what the other guys are suggesting is that you are unlikely to make money restoring anything but a genuine boss or shelby.
what actually needs to be done to it?
all it really needs is a few front parts (headlight buckets, bumper brackets, etc.) and paint. it has an excellent drivetrain. It also needs a little bit of electrical work but that doesnt require any money.
To tell you the truth, it is possible and likely to make money off a boss or shelby but find me one and Ill do it. these coupes are everywhere like someone else said. People also WANT them. people that dont know chit about them want them. Those are my buyers. Coupes are the easiest way to make money and easiest to sell and buy. I can buy one for cheap ($2000-$5000) fix up and sell for $12K and do it fast. $12K isnt that much money to spend on a car. I have a 66 GT convert right now and it will be a lot harder to sell even though I will still probably make money off it. Who is going to buy a $150,000 car? Rich *** people. there arnt too many rich *** people that want to give out that much money for a classic car. But anyone can give out 12K for a car. Basically I am saying that coupes are very easy to sell and make moeny off of. Even if they are no optioned or rare cars. And thats all I want to do.
Anyways, I can probably switch out the aftermarket parts, sell them, and get original parts without losing any money. and an original car will probably sell more than a rodded car.

I cant argue with your logic...you've found a target market and it works for you.
what you are talking about is not restoration. Its pretty simple. If you restore a 67 Coupe, you will be out of pocket.
Do what you do and you can make money...also simple if you get the right car to start with.
As far as I can tell, most of the guys here are modding or restoring for their own pleasure. They will rarely recoup the money and dont give a ****. I'm one of em.

I agree. I know I am going to make a profit Im just wondering which route will give me the most profit. i do this as a hobby. I know quite a lot about these mustangs and I like to make money off a few and keep others. Right now I have an 87 GT 5.0 that I am modding and a 66 mustang gt convert 4speed restored that I probably wont sell for awhile at least. This is just another form of making money that I like to do.
BTW Im 17 years old and dont have all the moeny in the world to keep them all. but I do make a lot of money off these.
