Default newbie, engine experience needed

i have a 393 stroker for my 67 mustang, its complete except for altenator, distributor, and starter. The guy that built the motor pretty much bailed on me, and he was suppossed to help me install it, wire it, and plumb it, does anyone have a link to a detailed install? or any tips on wiring and plumbing, thanks, David.

if you have the wiring harness, its not hard to hook it up. what you need to do is find a old shade tree mechanic or simply look at a old ford. the simple stuff is pretty much the same.

Do you have an alternator, starter and distributor?
Stock or aftermarket?
AT or MT. Do you have vacuum lines etc.
Has your wiring harness been changed or original
Please give us some specifics?
Is the engine in the car already?
Any pics?

Starter is pretty straight forward. Two bolts into the bellhousing and hook up cable from the right side of starter soleniod (rt if facing solenoid) it is usually a long black battery cable with eyes on each side.

Alternator pretty straght forward too. Should be a harness extension of the main harness under the starter solenoid. If you have a shop maunual this will show exactly what goes where on back of the Alt. If i remember correctly it has thre eyehole connection which are color coded to caps on the back of Alt. If its stock that is.

Distributor is a little more involves as you must get the motor to top dead center and insert the dist. with the rotor pointing to the #1 plug wire terminal on the cap. Again, the shop manual will give you instructions how to get the engine to TDC etc.

I recomend the actual Ford 67 Mustang Shop Manual as it is much more complete than any chilton's manual etc. I have had mne for 20 plus years and I still use it all the time.
