Default wipers driving me insane

Hi all,

I have a single speed wiper motor in a 1964 1/2 mustang coupe.
they turn on no problem. Trouble is i can't turn them off.
I know for a fact that the wiper on/off **** works fine because when i turn off the **** and turn off the ignition at the exact time they are down they stay down when i turn ignition back on.
Another hint is when the windshield is getting dry:
- in the on position wipers go up and down
- in the off position they'll go up and down as well but with a tiny stop when they're down. like for half a second or less
- when the windshield is fully dry then the motor has to work harder (naturally) and then sometimes the wipers stay down at some stage.

I don't know how to troubleshoot this further ...
anyone any ideas or has anyone had the same peoblems ?

thanks

kalli

The first thing I would do would be to clean all the wiring connections related to the wiper. If that doesn't do the trick, then you may need to replace the wiper motor itself, and get a two speed.

thanks very very much ... i have it sorted

it were the connectors. I pulled off the 3cableconnector directly at the motor. cleaned the thing and it's all sorted.

there seems to be a difference between "looks clean" and "is clean" ...

thanks very much !
