Steering wheel issue
While diagnosing and trying to fix my steering wheel (it came off when driving recently, story later on) I had to bring in my original wheel for them to compare the hardware on it.
He had trouble removing the horn button from my original wheel, but when he did, the name stamped inside is FALCON on top and SPRINT on the bottom.
We're wondering if this means they all came this way and a horn button for each type of car was put in place, or if mine is some oddity
Here is a photo (sorry it's not that great, new camera I'm not famliar with yet).

You say that is on the inside? Do you mean on the opposite side of what you are looking at when you are driving? At any rate, I don't think I have ever seen a Falcon horn ring on an early Mustang. The Mustang sprint was a 6 cylinder that Ford put a console, chrome breather and chrome spinner wheel caps on to sell more of them. Here is what it should your horn ring should look like. I didn't know that they sold Falcon Sprints, but they may have.

That's my wheel. If you pull off the center horn button, inside is the original Ford Mustang round logo fitting into another metal piece, and behind that, in plastic, are the 2 flags shows plus the FALCON on top and SPRINT on the bottom. I know the picture isn't great and you can only see the FALCON in it ... I can take more if I need to. I can take a pic of the actual horn button on the original wheel and the insert as he didn't put it back for some reason.
He said he figured they used a standard wheel size and simply put the insert inside for each particular model.

That's what the kid thought (he's my goat boy, not my Mustang mechanic) when he saw it.
Here are some more photos
These are the two separate components in the center

This is those 2 pieces when they fit together

This is those 2 pieces in place on the steering wheel

This shows the SPRINT lettering a bit more clearly

I believe, pammie, it was quite common as the falcon 66 didn't sell well hence why they made the mustang sprint to get rid of the 200ci inlines, try looking up the histroy off the mustang sprint for more info.
Ps. goat boy sounds like some werid mutant.....I am sure he is happy with his new title

I just took the pic about an hour or so ago. Well, I'll be damned. I never knew that Ford used the Falcon logo or name of Sprint or any other marking on the underside of the horn button. Good info Pammie. Unlike others, I am not going to take mine apart to see if it is there though.
Good info now -- but all day I was thinking I had some aftermarket wheel instead of the original I was told I had!
Shows you can learn something new every day, though, huh?
(I'm still hoping others take theirs apart)
