Default Staking

I'm rebuilding a carb and I've gotten to a point where the instructions say remove staking. What is staking? How is it removed? How is it put back in?

If this was a few days ago, I'd say that is what you do to a vampire. Removing it is not a good idea

Can you put in the rest of the context? Are they asking you to remove the venturi's? Normally staking is where you take a metal punch and tap it with a hammer to deform the metal, at a certain point. This helps keep anything things like a nut from turning, or a dovetailed part like a venturi from sliding out of position. It depends on what is staked as to how you "remove" it. Normally it will involve, cleaning up the edge of the deformed metal so the part can be removed.

Staking can also refer to an epoxy that holds a nut/screw in place.

What carb are you working on?
