Im planning on dropping a new six in my 66 mustang, I was wondering if anyone knew of good websites that could make it a little easier. Thanks.

Hey Noob, and welcome to the classic section of Mustangforums.com . We can answer most of your questions right here, so fire away. Another site for you sixers is http://www.fordsix.com.

I plan on disconnecting and pulling the engine then moving parts from it onto a rebuilt crate I bought.
The automatic transmission leaks a little so I thought I would pull it separately to get the seals replaced.
Then just reverse the process mating the engine to the transmission after it is in place to simplify the process.
Any suggestions or gotchas inthis approach?

THanks

Hope that crate you bought is either metal or plastic, if it's wood you might want to primer it first so the oil doesn't soak in from all the parts you are going to hang on it. If you're going to the trouble of putting in a rebuilt 6 cylinder, I'd suggest a cam, header, and at a minimum a 2 barrel carburetor conversion. Also pretty much anything you do with a die grinder to the ports on the head (especially on the exhaust side) is going to help. There is a plate you can buy that seperates the center exhaust port, helping those two cylinders to scavenge properly. The part is cheap, and you want a pro to weld it in, as you are welding cast. Then get the torque converter for a Pinto. It has a higher stall speed. This will slightly effect your fuel mileage if you do a lot of freeway driving, but the "out of the hole" aceleration is much better.

Have fun!
