Rear Quarters
stick to spot welding with a mig machine. brazing is possible for joining steel parts, but on sheet metal too much heat is needed to effectively join the pieces. stagger your welds to help eliminate warping.
Your car is gonna look like this too! Much better than the one in my avatar though.. Anyone wanna come up and stoke the fire for me so I can prime and paint this weekend? lol....
get an inexpensive mig welder. I have a little Hobart I use for body work. Its 110v so its portable and I can run it pretty much anywhere. It came with flux wire, but the gas works much better with less grinding needed. I have less than $800 in all of the stuff for it, including gas, helmet and two spools of wire. Its a good investment, you will use it all the time if you get one..lol. Same with a bead blaster and air compressor.. you would use them to death..
i have a 71 Firebird that had the rear section brazed on. the floor boards are warped pretty bad, and the upper joint was doone very poorly. it took alot of time to do a very crappy job on it, so a good job would take even longer. I didnt do the work but I know how long it takes to braze stuff of that scale..
