It depends on where you live, but most folks use either 10-W-30 or 10-W-40 for dino oil.
I run Rotella 15-40 in my 65 289. I also use Motorcraft or Wix filters.
As far as the heater motor, you will most likely have one of two problems. The switch, or the motor. Try checking the motor by hooking it up directly to 12 Volts. If it runs, then suspicion the switch.

Im in Orlando Fl.

mostly 80-100 F (except winter) 32-76 F

I have noticed since I got the oil changed with 10W-30 the temp gauge reads higher than before when it would read in the middle....

Changing the oil to 10-30 would have nothing to do with your temp going up. Check your coolant level.

Did you mean wetter water?

I kinda figured My question would seem stupid to some, after I reread it (but in my book there really isn't such a thing as a stupid question) .....

I just couldn't remember what the suggested oil grade was for vehicles with high mileage..

The radiator is full at a ratio of 60% antifreeze & 40% water.

Thanks again,

I use full synthetic too, but my engine is almost new. He has an old worn engine, and using synthetic is not a good idea for a high mileage engine because all the gaskets will leak like crazy. Next time, try a 20-50 weight oil, especially in Florida during the summer.

HB (beauty of a car by the way),
my engine is about as tired as they get, and with the full synthetic I actually have less high pressure leakage than when I was using conventional, and I have noticed a difference (not just saying that). I started with conventional, switched to full synthetic high milage (valvoline I think) then this new quaker state Q stuff and like I said, less high pressure leakage.
