Default Console Brackets

My console was never secured in place. How many mounting brackets do I need for a 66 mustang without air condtioning?
Where is the placement?
Do I put them where the clips are on the console? If so, this seems "hit or miss" to get them in the correct place perfrctly.
any help appeciated Scott

One up towards the front, under the center of the stowage box. If you look inside you'll see slotted holes.
The sides have holes that use long SS screws. Be careful if you have a single exhaust or 6 cylinder car that you don't drill through the tunnel and into a brake line. Also go slow with the drill bit. The bit will want to wrap up carpet and underliner. You can end up breaking the console at a screw hole if you ham fist things.

A trick I used when I put mine in, was I got it located exactly where I wanted it, then got my soldering pencil red hot, and burned through the carpet and underlayment. Then I immediately drilled the hole and started the screw. That way, the carpet didn't wrap around the drill bit. I guess you could use a nail and heat it with a propane torch too.
