Default 302 v8

I have a 302 V8 and my son wants to put in a camshaft that gives it much more of a loping sound. does anyone have a suggestion of what I might get.

thanks

kinda depends what u want out of it. A big lift will make great power but not till later in the rpms, and be a dog out of the hole unless you have a decent converter. Try to stay around the .490-.510 lift range. That will give u a nice sound and decent low end.

the cam lobes are slightly taller causing the valve to open more. don't go too large of a lift b/c you'll need to look into other things like valve springs.

Lope comes from the centerline and duration of the cam. Go for a cam with 110* of center line at the most with 230* duration at 050. Note that the lopey idle will mean less power in the lower rpm range, which is why you hear the lope. This means more changes to the rest of the engine, like the carb, intake, and heads.
