ya i got a 66 that i put hooker comp headers on (didnt quite have the money for super comps). if u have the money go with ceramics. if u have the 289 (im guessing u do) the part # is 42243 HKR. i have the "i love my hooker headers" sticker on my comp so that how i know the part # off the top of my head. their good headers and give u quite a bit more low end torque. but like ppl have said, u gotta watch out for speed bumps cuz it cuts your clearance to inches.

from what I understand long tubes are the only things you really need to worry about on the speed-bumps/curbs, and mostly that even depends on if you've lowered the car over an inch

I thought we were talking about long tubes here. Nah, shorties are no problem, but not the best flowing headers because most lack the collector. I have mixed reports about long tubes dragging on speed bumps like in front of schools and in parking lots. Just thought I'd get it cleared up.

I've had Tri-Y's for nearly a year, and Heddman headers for several years before that, both sets are full-length, and I've never had trouble with them dragging. Oh yeah, all Tri-Y's are full-length.

grruminator78-Holdin' it down w/ the Keytstones, good choice.

A few things to keep in mind are how much the vehicle is lowered, size of tires and which years. I know that '66 and up motor mounts are about an inch higher than '65 mounts. Many headers mention that they must be used with '66 and up mounts.

My brother has the tri-Y's on his '66 vert with 1" lowering springs and doesn't hit at all. I had Hedman long tubes on my old '65 w/65 mounts and 1" lowering springs and hit them like you wouldn't believe. I actually hit a bump which was high enough to tilt the engine and put my fan into the radiator! Doh! Granted, I probably had the fan closer than it had to be, but ...

I switched those headers out for JBA shortys $$$ and didn't have a problem after that.
