Default frozen bolt

having trouble with this bolt on my leaf springs...the nut came off so all i have is the bolt sitting there holding it all together. its hard to bang out because you cant get much leverage on it, the body of the stang is in the way. this is on a 65

Welcome to the club. Everybody I know (to include myself) has had to deal with that bolt. I simply used a sawzall (reciprocating saw) with some new steel cutting blades and cut it twice just inside the hanger. Others have used torches and air cut -off tools. At any rate, you will need to cut it out.

so get the sawzall and cut the bolt on both sides of the leaf spring so that the spring falls down...then try to knock the rest out?

Why knock the sleeve and bolt out? You are replacing the old springs with new ones anyway, so there is no need to save that old spring.

You could also use a fire wrench.

But, yeah. That's pretty much the idea.

I've been working on cars and stuff for quite some time, but what is a "fire wrench".

Or is that the term you use for a torch?

That would be a torch. I had to use a torch to get the nut off one of my bolts but every one of them came out with a little pursuation from a hammer and a punch. You just have to angle the punch the correct way to get it out. Once it is knocked loose, just grab it with some vise grips and twist until it comes out.

Just played with this exact bolt last week. I ended up using the old sawzall on it too. It was a real mother to get out and next time i wont even bother with getting the nut off... just cut the darn thing right from the get go

We have beaten this dead horse on here many times, and it always comes down to just cutting the bolt. However you want to do it is fine, but the bolt has to be cut to get it out.
