If it's a 1979 Bronco mostlikely its a 351M/400
It is usable but I would hold out and look for a 351c

You can make any tranny work on a 351C for street use using the right tourqe converter. What tranny do you have.

I thought Cs and Ms were dead and gone by 1979 or so, certainly Cs, maybe not Ms. Ws lasted a long time after that.

from the web ......................

The 1978 & 1979 Ford Bronco, also called "second-generation" Broncos, are perhaps the rarest, most mysterious, and most highly sought after Broncos in existence. Considered lost treasures by many, they were only manufactured for two years and are the only Broncos that were built on the indestructible 1973-1979 F-Series pickup chassis. The second-generation Broncos are unique in almost every aspect of it's design, from being the only Bronco ever built that exclusively used the Cleveland based 351M/400 engines to being the only full-size Broncos ever built with a solid front axle (considered the best axle design for 4-wheeling). The questions that people ask the most about the second-generation Broncos is why were these Broncos only manufactured for two years and what is the history behind them?

maybe you should try and ****** up the whole car, sounds like they're kinda rare.

says they used the 351M/400

A 79 Bronco would have had a 351M-400. They were put in light duty trucks from 1977-1982. The last year for the 351 Cleveland was like in 1975 when the 351M replaced it for use in large passenger cars. The 302 and 351W engines continued for several more years. So, my guess is that the 79 Bronco engine you have is indeed a 351-400.

I know a guy that has two 351C's. One is a 4bbl and one is a 2bbl. Neither are running but they are pretty much complete. They are located in Georgia.
