engine help!
this kinda falls into the "need help with 351 engine" posted earlier.
so im looking for a 351 as well and ran across the post. i wanted to know will that actually work? getting an engine from a different ford (bronco, explorer, cougar, tbird, etc ), have it rebuilt, and putting it into a 67 hardtop. or would it be better jus to go with the crate engines from ford. if it is compatible, what should i look for and what should i avoid to have smoothest possible swap?
whats a 351M? im guessing a 351C is cleveland and a 351W is a windsor? whats the difference between the three? the positives and negatives? which one should i ultimately aim for if im looking to keep the same trans., jus having it rebuilt.

RE: engine help!
Read this article to acquaint yourself with the 351M. We have had the discussion many times about which is better......the 351C or the 351W. Go to the bottom of this thread and you will see a search engine. There, you can read what everyone has had to say about their preferences.

RE: engine help!
I would like the have the Ranchero... (i have enough projects already tho)
Also the 289/302, 351W, and 351C 2V will all bolt in easily witha 67-73. The 4V will go in but the headers take up alot of room.. You can even put 352/360/390/406/410/427/428 ci FE series engines in it. But the parts to do it arent cheap.
Good bang for the buck is 289/302 or one of the 351s, and really it depends on what engine you find as far as C or W. not too many performance items for the M. Both the C and W are good engines and can make good power, although the W usually needs aftermarket heads and the C can do it with stock ones. Finding Cleveland stuff is a bit harder because they werent made as long as the Windsor was. Its that simple really..
