starting problem
i took my 1969 coupe to a mechanic to get my brakes done and then it wouldnt start up for em. They found out that it was the ignition switch, but anyway it started to work so then they said well if it works then there is no point waisting money on new one so i didn't think about it. I am 15 and i was just learning how to drive a stick(im not to good by the way) and I stalled out so i tried to start it up and i got nothing. i turned the key and i heard this not too loud click. So then i tried it again and it didnt do anything at all. so the first thing i think of is the ignition switch that was acting up. So i took the switch out and the connector looked melted so this seemed to be the obvious problem. i got a new one on ebay with a new connector so i cut the wires from the original connector and looked at the wires and saw that the one i got had two more wires than the one i have. What do i do? i tried to match em up and got nothing still. i'm stuck and now my mustang is sitting in my driveway waiting to get new discs on the front. either i have the wrong ignition switch or its not the ignition switch at all

RE: starting problem
try to post some pics of each ignation switch....
there is a way that you can test starter
attach a wire to the starter then just tap the other end of the wire on the positive (red) side of the battery... If the starter turns over....then its not the starter....just as a side not this wont start the car

RE: starting problem
It sounds like you have the wrong switch. They sell them with or without a pigtail. Call your local Mustang supply place and describe your old switch to them so you can get the correct one. Once you have the correct switch in, then we can help you test the rest of the circuit.
