Paxton Supercharger
I was atmy Mustang shop today and saw a '65 with a Paxton Supercharger. I was told it adds about 80 hourses to the car and drvies real nice. The owner said the cost is around $4,000 and is suitable for daily driving.... and it doesn;t cuase undo stress on the exisiting suspension or transmission. Sweet!
Anyone out there ever driven one of these. I really like to hear your impressions. By the wya, does this modificationadd to the value of the car? What do you think?

RE: Paxton Supercharger
We put a Paxton on an EFI 5.0 a few years back, it had Edelbrock heads, intake, and it ran really well without the blower and even better with it. The airbox the paxton uses on a carb setup can be a PITA if you need to work on the carb, I prefer a blow through to a box. Still they work and you dont really notice them untill you push the loud pedal.

the one nice thing about the paxton sc's is that you dont have to go thru and change out every little damn thing in the car too as far as switchin all your gaskets to copper instead of the heavy cork crappy (which i dont use ne way) or change cranks to billet etc.
i still love the sound of a kenne bell on a 03/04 cobra....mmmmmmm sexy

Doesthe $4,000 price tag include installation? I think the going rate for the paxton s/c and components is about $3,000. Anyway I want one too, but how do I tell the wife I spent 3-4 grand on a part that wasnt needed, just wanted?

RE: Paxton Supercharger
I've got a Paxton on my '66...it's set up with a bypass to limit boost below 2500 rpm, and once you reach the higher rpm's, it really...really...lets you know it! with the methanol injection kit, the whole shootin' match ran about $3500 brand new with polished components instead of brushed aluminum. I haven't put it on a dyno since the install, but the manufacturer figures an extra 100 ponies... It took a day to install, but I had already prepped the motor and the lubrication system months before I installed it. The carb enclosure was a PITA, so I switched over to EFI.

RE: Paxton Supercharger
80-100 extra ponies is a generalization that doesn't hold true for all enginesIt mostly depends on what size engine and the amount of boost. For instance a 500HP 408 stroker running a Novi 2000 at9-10psi will make 200 extra horsepower easy.
