What year did Ford begin to put EGR valves on 289 Mustang engines??

289's never had egr valves. They had PCV valves from 1965 until they quit making them in 1968.

yea egr is emissions; came a bit later.

Not on a 289. That's what the PCV is all about. It was about the first attempt at emissions control.
