Supercharged Mustangs
I mentioned this before in an earlier post but I'm curious to hear from anyone else that has supercharged or know of someone whohas supercharged their vintage ride.
I saw a Paxton on a '65. It is very cool... and very expensive at $4,000!
I wonder - without modifying the rest of the car- how it feels to drive and if it puts undo stress on the rest of the strucutral parts.
I know it transforms theC code 289 from 200 to280 horses.
Do you get your money out of this major additon if you ever choose to sell?
Overall do you long-term Mustang guys give this idea a thumbs up or a thumbs down?

Personally I wouldnt do it, rather do other things like change the whole engine or just change parts to give it more bhp.
I think for a bit over 4k you can even get a nice 300bhp engine?

you'll get more bang for the buck if you do smaller bolt-on's first like intake manif, hedders, carb, cam, and heads. for 4 G's its not worth it when you can get the same, if not more HP improvement with a supped up N/A powerplant.
Personally the paxton kit is totally overpriced, you'd be better off goin with a roots style setup, which I believe there are several companies that make something like that for the sbf's. regardless, I would hold off on a S/C unless you are already making some decent power.

+80 HP is what you can expect throwing it on a stock engine. To get more than that, the engine must be speciically built for boost which includes a special cam grind as well as low compression pistons which allow maximum boost without detonation.
Im planning on putting on a weiand 174 blower come summer time( onto my 302) because i have some extra $$ saved and was thinking either NOS or the constant SC power, besicdes, i already have one SC'ed car and love the whine,so i wantanother!

Here are a couple, maybe installed it would be $4000, but the kits alone arent that much. I have put them on before and installation isnt that tough, tunning is a bit more complex. I tend to always run them rich, just no overly so.
I would love to put a blower on all of my cars, either a turbo or a supercharger would be nice. When you want power its far easier to do it with boost than it is on the engine alone. With todays technology its much more driveable since you can have a relatively mild engine with power on demand.
One thing about them, if you take the time to do the job right and have a good experince with them, you will want them on everything. They are addictive.
