efi conversion

Default efi conversion

Hey there, i need some help on modifying a stock harness and making it work on a 1966 mustang. a wiring diagram is what im looking for, if anyone out there can help me i would greatly appreciate it.

It basically depends on what you're putting on it but, there shouldn't really be anything to "tie in". The only wiring on the 66 should be for the dist and the gauges. The biggest part would be to wire up the fusable links and the grounds, then find places to mount the comp and the relays. I guess what I'm trying to say is that if you use a Ford system (or most anything else) it should be a "stand alone" system and not require splicing into your origonal wiring. About the only thing I can think of that would be a "tie in" would be the power from the ignition switch.

why don't you check out www.painlessperformance.com they make wiring harnesses for all kinds of conversions and they would probably be cheaper in the long run than you trying to assemble your own computer wiring harness from scratch anyway. there'a just too many wires on an EFI engine and the connectors are custom too, so I would take a hard look at painless wiring first. then you could keep the old harness for the acessories and throw away the rest when you install the new engine.
