still no left brake light!!
i hate this electrical stuff - and i'm no good at it.
i have all park lights, all turn signals and a brake light on the right side - but not on the left. have changed bulbs, switch and still not left brake light.
i have two wires on the switch pedal relay, one is black and the other is green with an orange stripe. The green with the orange stripe is always hot - guess its the powere from the battery. so the black must send the light signal to the rear lights - is that right? according to the diagram i have - it goes to the left first and then the right. if that is true, if the right one works, so should the left since power is routed through there first. that can't be right. what do i do? anyone tell me where a good diagram is?

I don't have the exact wiring diagram in front of me but usually the brake lights need to go thru the Turn Signal switch as they are using the same filiment as the turn signal does.
Check and see if the output from the brake light switch doesn't go up the steering column. If so you need to pull the steering wheel and check the power in and out of the T/S Switch.
It might not hurt first to double check your rear grounds as you can get some crazy situations with a bad ground which forces power to go to ground thru some other part of the circuit.

I had the same problem on my 67. It turned out to be a bad light bulb socket. I replaced it with one snatched from a bone-yard and I was back in business.
when you put the brakes on do both sides light up bright? Does the right blink ok? When the left sig is on do you get nothing or is it on steady? Steady is the front bulb is out....Little more info and we'll get you there.
Maybe these pics of my 65 will help. The first one is the driver's side.

when i put the brakes on, only the right side lights up.
both right and left blink ok.
when the left signal is on, both front and rear blink ok.
everything works fine but the brake light on the left rear.
mine is a 67
i did replace the turn signal switch a while back - could that be it. gosh i hope not.

+1
if the right brake light is working...then you dont need to worry about the wiring in the car....sockets can go bad...just like anything esle
