Default Started on the cowls!!!!

What the hell!!!!
I understand that it is necessary to spot weld, but why put spot welds right on top of each other? It's just not right. The damn fender estension was in good shape, but there were so many welds on the flange I got pissed and tore it off.
I've gone through about seventy five welds and I'm not even half way yet. And I only went all the way through on four!
I pulled the driver's side THRASHED and BONDOED fender and worked from there. I still have to pull the passenger side. I got the patch panels for christmas. It looks like I have some pretty bad cancer on the driver's side of the cowl top. Have to see about fixing that.
I noticed that there seems to be three layers of metal in some areas. Am I going throught the top or first two layers of metal?????

That looks real good! Did you put anything down before the seam sealer or is it on bare metal?

it was all primed before the seam sealer, then i threw on the seam sealer and threw on couple of coats of prime and paint. good thing about that seam sealer is the flexiblity of it ! sry ive been quite delayed with the other pics i should be able to finish today!

Cool deal. I should have my cowls pulled off by this weekend. Got the passenger side fender off and found more jungle rot. From the photos it looks like you had to weld in some patches on the cover. Is this the case or is that what it looks like on the underside?

dude it was horrible, all around the cowl edges, it was jungle rot. look in the pic below. the circled in yellow is all new sheetmetal and the grey was just welded in becuz the previous owners tried to fix the cowl by jus cuttin the cowl on top so that was a major job also!

Yeah mine is pretty bad on the passenger side. How do you keep suff from building up in there after the fix? The passenger side drain was completely blocked with leaves and dirt. I'm considering welding four of the vents closed on the top.
