Default getting the 9" together

I cut the ladder bars off today and cleaned up the torch cuts with a grinder. The rear was rusted pretty bad as is everything left out in the elements in Alaska. I then went over the whole housing with a wire cup on a grinder. I will weld up some pits left by the PO who welded the ladder bars on. JR at Alaska axle is rebuilding the third member for me. I went over there today and looked at everything. He said everything looked great. It is a factory limited slip with 3.00 gears. He is going to replace the clutches, seals, and bearings. Then he is going to put 4:11's in there at my request. He thinks I should go 3:73. After I clean up the housing a little more it will be sandblasted and powder coated. I'm thinking black but I also think silver would be cool. What do you all think? Here is a pic of before and after.

Hit it with a primer/sealer - I like Duplicolor, good stuff... Then Duplicolor rattle can it - can't go wrong with black but silver would be cool looking too. Either way it will look good.

Hello KR,

I will have a top loader with wide ratio gearing. Did you do the powdercoating yourself? I have heard of kits being available.

NoI did not do it my self. A company did it for me. Remember that if you are going to powder coat large pices you need a pretty big oven. But for small pices i think the kit is an investment. There are a lot of pices that could need som powdercoat on a old car.
