OK guys.....I have had lithium grease on the catch and mechanism from the get-go. It appears to me that the catch may have a groove in it, and the latch is having a hard time grabbing the catch. Take a look at these pics, and tell me what you think. Can I just adjust the catch, or do I need to replace it?

On Edit:
I just now went out and inspected the latch and catch more closely. The catch does not have a groove in it. (3rd pic) It is perfectly round and appears to be just fine. So, now I am suspecting the latch. I just may have to tear into it to see about the spring thing as mentioned.

I am with Scott.. It doesnt take much to pull the door panel, unbolt the latch, clean and lube it real well, then put it back.

You have the time to do it Glen, just do it.

WD40 is better at cleaning away the old goo and allowing the mechanism to work again. You could use brake cleaner, but WD40, and its competition, are safer to use around painted parts.

Lithium grease is a better lubricant that wd-40 in the long run.

Soaring, old yeller is getting old just like you and me. I always say, rub a little grease on it and it will work fine[8D]. Of course you should clean it like the others have said.
