I may be in the minority here, however...

I let the wife deal with all of the monies. ( she wants it that way) She manages our finances and never complains about doing it.

When we came to this agreement, I said I only have one issue that we need to understand. That is, I'll never question your ability to manage our money, ever. However, if I ever needor want something ( I always let her know if I'm about to make a substantial purchase ) and you say no or to wait for <x> days and I find you're coming home with a new hair-do or you're nails done or you've got a new closet full of clothes, we're going to have big issues.

Other than that, she could care less if I build our car. Heck, she drives the thing as much as I do.
There's times when a relationship just has to be equal. I'm not talking 50/50. I'm talking 100/100.

Well I got it pretty good , my wife makes more than I do , she doesn't like to shop, likes the car except the time I spend on it .Also whenI work overtime I take themoneyfor the car fund as along as we stay on budget. Not bad for 26 years together.

The thing mine is ticked about is we live in Denver and there are 2 'stangs in the garage in non-moveable shape right now and 30" of snow last week and another 1' expected this weekend. Plus the Mustangs would NEVER sit out in the snow anyways.

No problem with my wife yet. However, with two daily drivers and three RWDin a storage garage for the winter, she does look at me strangely at times.

My wife takes care of the finances too. If I want something for the Stang, I look at the checkbook to see if I can afford it. right then. If not, I will wait. If she wants something, then she looks at the checkbook, and if I haven't already spoken for any extra cash we may have, she buys what she can afford. Simple math and priorities guys.

Unfortunately my wife is no longer with me. She enjoyed my Shelby as much as I did (spent years trying to beat my time autocrossing it). We had an agreement from the day I gave her the engagement ring in it. She was to never tell me "Either it goes or I go." The day I sold it (reality of 3 kids and working commission at a dealership forced it) she had to leave the house and came back later. We always discussed things concerning money and wants. You will find that marrige is a 2 way street, you give her somethings she wants because if you always put the car ahead of her, your marrige will surely fail. We had 1 day shy of 31 years, yes it was stormy at times, but we stayed together, even more after the kids were grown.

Well, I have received a little hell from my GF over the coupe, but I told her, if she wants me to get rid of it, she needs to find one in my price range, in better shape, for me to get instead. I told her shortly after we got together, I WILL NOT give up my stang. She said "We can't afford kids if you are spending all your money on that car." I explained, by time we are ready to have kids we're going to be making more than 30-40K a year EACH, instead ofCOMBINED! LOL!!

I haven't touchedmy 66in quite some time as I have been concentrating on building my business and finding an apartment for us. I do plan to start some interior work once the weather warms back up. Just getting any rusty spots on the floorboards squared away. Than,I'm working on getting the head taken care of and picking up my new suspension and disc brake kit.

By the way, I'm 22, she's 26 and we've been together for 1 year and4 months. She doesn't have a problem with the car, she just doesn't want me spending ALL of my money on it. I can work on it as long as I take care of everything else first (DUH!). Oh, and I'm the financial consultant, so I take care of financialplanning. We split the bills and what we have left over is our own money to do as we please with.

Sorry to hear about your loss 85lebaront2.
I would say I'm pretty lucky. My wife has been working on my mustang with me and even going to car shows, swap meets and putting up with not being able to park in the garage for over 12 years now. She even wants to get another one to restore/mod for herself!
