Choke Question

Default Choke Question

What should the automatic choke be set at on a 1964.5 Coupe 289 4V (D Code)?
When it is cold it is reving at 2200 rpms? What should it be changed to??

The butterfly should be completely closed when the engine is cold. Tap the accelerator and take the air cleaner off and see if the butterfly is closed. If not. then loosen the three small screws and turn the black hub until it is.

The choke on mine does not want to close all the way even with pressure. Seems like the rod connected to the butterflys does not move freely. I can adjust the choke to open more but not close all the way.

It is supposed to close within 1/4 of an inch +/- stone cold, push the accelerator to the floor once. If not, turn the black bakelite housing one way or the other to acheive the 1/4".
