RE: carpet underlayment for '69...
May want to consider using some of the newer adhesive underlayments that the 'tuner' guys are using to improve sound and cut road noise. I did from top of firewall down to back seat for about 50 bucks.

No heat gun, just need a halfway warm place. I did mine in August in Texas and it just pressed into place with my hand.
If I were going to do a complete 69, I'd buy 100 ft. to coverfrom the bottom of the front cowl to the rear bumper. You'd have a little extra to do behind the sail panels. Probably 15 ft wason myfirewall, so you may not need that much. If you get too much, you can always use it inside the doors.

i used the underlayment that came with the new carpet but also sprayed everything (on the floors and in the trunk) with the rubberized undercoating in the aerosol cans and that stuff is awesome it is so much quieter inside but either way but this stuff is real cheap

I am dismantelling mine now, the previous guy had a kind of rubberized mat laid in. When the leak started in the front passenger side, the water went under it and never dried out. I think it's been caught in thime not to have to put a SECOND new floor pan it it.
I like the undercoating idea, and the tuner's material looks good too.If any water gets under it, will it breathe? I'm real leery of putting in anything that looks like a vapor barrier again.
Hey, what about truck bed liner?
