What car are you putting it in?
Is it auto or manual?
If manual, is it Zbar, cable, or hydraulic clutch linkage?
Do you want cheap or expensive?
Long tube or shorties?

You say it's a 65 with a 302, so do you know what year motor?
Do you have 65 or 66 style motor mounts?

im running heddman's and am happy with them. The hooker super comps are probably one of the best out there, but they are a bitch to get in.

The hooker supercomps have a slightly different tube routing design (the 2nd or 3rd exhaust tube comes up and over rather than down at an angle like most all LT's do)...I believe its to make room for the steering column. The bitch is that the different shapes makes for some really tight clearances against the cylinder head when it comes time to put in header bolts.

...and we all know how fun header bolts are to put in........thats why its a bitch.

in regards to what you should go with...your setup is exactly what i have (65 w/c4...my 302 block is from a 68)..you'll be just fine with some heddman LT's or the Hooker competition (not super comp) LT's

Ford guys cant complain about header bolts. You can see most of them and once its bolted up they wont leak after a single WOT pass. So no complaining from the Ford types. If you wanna complain about header bolts, work on a traditional Pontiac. its all done by feel.

Why are you having trouble finding headers that fit? with the auto you have the least trouble getting them to work. just buy a set and put them on.

ive got a set of Hooker long tubes and I love them. I got them into the car while the car was basically sitting on the ground. They fit in fine with my T5 and probably would fit around the C4 if it were there. I was just a lil worried about the starter clearance but it ended up being fine.

I just put a set on my 66 coupe. It all depends on the transmission you're running. With headers, you get what you pay for. Spend $200 on inexpensive 5/16 flanges, smaller tubesand thin walls, and you'll spend much more time replacing blown gaskets and continually screwing withheader leaks.

I've had great luck with Thorley headers, previously Doug Thorley. There has been some changes, but I believe there are two seperate but similar companies; Headers by Doug and Doug's headers. Pertronix recently purchased Headers by Doug, so any reputable Mustang shop should be able to get eitherfor ya. They are both exceptional headers, but run about $500 for ceramic coated, about $380 for non-ceramic.
If you live in a hot climate during summer, spend the money on the ceramic, you'll thank yourself when it's 100+ degrees at a stop light, plus they cool down very fast if you need to do work under the hood. Sure, they look good, but the ceramic coating is very functional. Good luck.
