Trunk Tension Bar Noise!
OK, so as long as I have had my Mustang, going on 10 years now the trunk tension bars have always made a lot of noise. It has always been annoying but now that I have swapped out the rear suspension for one that is much more stiff the noise is almost unbearable. What can I do to get rid of the noise? I had a friend who had a 67 Mustang who said something about a trunk tension bar tightener tool, but I haven't ever been able to find one. Any help would be super!
There is a plastic coil on mine. It is wrapped about half way. It almost looks like a corkscrew. It probably keeps them from rattling against each other.

Like they have said, most vendors sell something that fixs this problems. Its simply a rubber strip that adheres to the bar so they dont clang together. You could perhaps make something yourself that would be more effective..

Yeah, or split some rubber gas line and wrap it with that. You might could even use some of that gray foam tubing stuff you wrap pipes for the winter.
