Engine code D2OE-6015-AB ?
Hi, I own a '66 convertible. I had to overhaul the engine, and when checking the engine code, I found the following : D2OE-6015-AB. It seems to be a 302 from '72 (correct me if I'm wrong).
Google pointed to some discussions, where this code on cilinderheads reffered to a "Police Interceptor".
Does somebody know if this is something special ?
I am still looking for a pair of cilinderheads (one is cracked), so do I go with 302's?
I always supposed it was a 289 engine. When I order other parts, can I go wrong if they're for a 289?
Thanks from a newby.

It recently got a complete overhaul. The overhaulcompany mesured the cilinders, and told me I had to get .40 oversized pistons (I know, not so good), so I let a mechanic order them.
I just recently learned about enginebloc codes, so now I 'm wondering if the right pistons were delivered.
The overhaulcompany only bored the cilinders once he got the new pistons, so I am sure they fit perfectly, and they seem to come almost to the top of the engine.
What's the difference between a 289 and a 302 ? bore or stroke? And if it is bore, do I have a 302 engine with .40 oversize pistons, or not?

the difference is in the stroke. if you have a D2 block and im assuming the crank that came with that block than you now have a .040 302. for the record .040 is perfectly fine, even .060 is ok in all honesty.
Thx,
I got another problem to. When I reassembled the engine, I noticed the cranck and waterpump pulleys touched eachother. When I tried to start the engine, the waterpumppulley sometimes turned the other way. Since this is apparently a put-toghether engine, I measured the pulleys.
Waterpumppulley is 6.1 inches, and the cranckpulley is 6.61 inches wide.
Are the sizes as should be, or do I need to change one or both?

yeah but we're they just using up the rest of the stock when they used the 289 in 68?
on the pulleys i cant help ya other than to say do some boneyard hunting and let yourself end up with "underdrive" pulleys =)
you can search everything from grandma's station wagon to vans and pickups.... different pulleys in different cars from different years on different motors. you'll find a combination that makes you happy.
