my bell-housing

so i am putting my engine in right now and i noticed that there is a crack in my bell housing on the dowel pin thing in the driver side of my c4 what i want to know is if it will be ok to drive around for about a month or so until i can afford to fix it

Hard to say without pictures but if it is just for the dowel pin I would not worry about it. The pin is only to help align it on installation.

If its on the outside dont worry about it too much. If it is going into the bellhousing, get another one. I think I have a couple back home in Nebraska if you cant find one. the dowel pins also locate the trans behind the engine, without them the trans would move around under power and destroy the front pump, rear main bearing and possibly the thrust bearing..

Also aluminum can be welded quite easily.. If you are concerned about it take it to a machine shop and ask if you can have it Tig welded.. They will know what you mean..

its just on that one dowell pin abut all of the bolts are in place so it should be ok to drive normally for a month or so right just cause i have no money to do it
