Default How should I do the Stereo?

My 65' GT coupe had a cut out for and aftermarket stereo when I bought. I went to install my new bracket and I found out that they cut the hole too big, they had to rivet and silicone the last bracket in there. What should I do? Should I buy a dash repair panel and then cut out another hole, or should I just rivet and silicone the new bracket in. If I silicone and rivet the new bracket in then all I have to do is to sand a little part of my dash down and then repaint it, then it would look okay.

Get a radio delete plate for the dash. Then put the stereo under the seat or in the glove box. Dont have any speakers in view, and dont put a contents listing on the windows like the ricer kids do.

You will get to keep your stereo much longer that way.. Plus it looks alot cleaner and classy in the car.

Multiple people at stereo shops told me that Custom Autosound stereos break easily and aren't very reliable, that was my first thought though. What did THUMPIN455 mean by a contents listing on the window?

It's true. Custom autosound sucks. I had one burn out in a few months, if that. There went $240 down the drain.

I like Alpine, Sony, and other brands you cant get at Walmart, JBL for speakers and some Kenwood goes in nice. Having had an Alpine stolen from my F150, and the 70 GTO being unlocked for two years in the same parking lot with a stock radio in the dash but a Sony under the seat never even being looked at, I prefer hidden systems.. the Cougar will get a large portion of the stereo equipment I have accumulated over the last few years, since it will be a cruiser and get alot of miles on it. The sound of the engine after 800 miles starts to put you to sleep. its a mix of Sony, Kenwood, and JBL stuff... none of it will be seen, not even the speakers or amps in the trunk. All hidden.

its almost always kids and crack heads who steal stereos, someone more mature will just steal the car.
