Default Exhaust systmes

It seems that everybody keeps talking and recommending certain exhaust systems. On my new mustang I'm looking to put something on there but am not sure if it's worth it until I redo the engine (which will be in the long run). Should I do something cheap for now, or take care of it hoping that it will still be great when I upgrade my performance?

a 1967 coupe with the original 289 engine. It only has 67,000 original miles and it will eventually have to be replaced so I am in debate

...waiting for someone to comment on his wheels...[sm=bling.gif]

oh and I would upgrade now. But if you're going to replace the 289, what are your plans for the future engine setup?

and oh ya...there are 20" Foose rims on there. See, that's the thing, not going to put my Winston racing tires on (selling them if anybody is interested) until I put the big-block engine. The engine change will come years from now when i establish myself completely financially and what not. So, with that said, I plan on holding onto this engine for a while and the exhaust is the parody.

well an FE engine would be the easieast to put in but i would stay with the nimble 289 its the motor that beat ferrari come on and you can punch one up to 400bhp with the amount of money you will spend on the big block but i would say a 390 or so is your best bet on bigblock

wow
rollin deep on 20" foosey flashers ehh?[sm=smiley16.gif]

as far as exhaust goes, changing your engine wont effect it much. If I were you I would get some new mufflers (flows, magnaflows...etc etc..) and maybe upgrade the tubing to 2 1/2"....If you are planning to put in a big block later on down the road, you can also section the exhaust tubing and put in 3" lengths (3" tubing may be neccessary to let a BB breathe a little better)

okay, so if in all likelihood I just want to get something for now that will sound nice but not empty my pockets. What are the recommendations? I just don't want to be going to a muffler shop and get suckered in for something I didn't want. Thus, I ask the experts...
