Window Glass Removal
okay....whats the deal with window glass removal....is it really hard to take out and/or reinstall? i want to replace my rubber seals on the front and back since the old ones are almost gone already and leak like the dickens......they are real cheap from what i remember and im just wondering if there is a general concensus this is not a fools errand and i can do it myself (or rather, with another persons help to lift the windows out of course). I remember my grandpa telling me how they got the new window seals back in with a piece of string and pulled it along or something.....ring a bell? is there any online writeups about this?
i did both frount and back windows last weekend and its a pain. i cut out the old weatherstriping wiht a utility knif then puit the weatherstrippig on the window easily then used a screwwdriver and my thumb to cram the weatherstriping on the car. it sucked haha. i would of used string but i couldent find any and im far to lazy to drive to the hardwhere store and get it. but they are in and it rained the day after i put them in with no leaks!!!
did you happen to take any pictures? basically you just take out the old window....then do you glue the new weather strip around the glass, then set the glass back on the car and push down the lip? seems like theres more to it.....
I took the plastic line out of my trimmer (weed wacker) put that in the grove of the seal that I already put on the window. I then put dish soap and water in a spray bottle. I sprayed the rubber with the bottle, and then starting that the bottom inside, with someone putting pressure on the window from the out side, pulled the string from the bottom first then I did the sides one at a time and finally fished with the top. The trimmer line I ran from top to bottom and had it crossover at the bottom middle of the window. Remeber to leave plenty of slack so you can wrap it around your hands. I also sprayed more of the soapy solution as I got to the particular area I was working.
This work well for me since my and my 14 year old daughter installed a window in about 30 minutes.

the guy who did mywindsheild and rear window used a piece of rope on the "innerside" that goes on the body,,,don't let anyone kid you,,once the windows in place peal the rubber back and seal it with the window sealer stuff or you'll proably get a leak at the car wash or a good rain storm,,what makes that worse is the rust facter,,hope it helps,,,,as far as the clips I had to trim the lower part of the new ones to make them grab
go to walmart and buy some crab line on a roll it about 99cent? (its nice and soft and wont scratch up the window lip) put it in the outer part set window down and slowly pull the rop to the insideworking both side from the bottom evenly the trim clips are a seperate thing you need to buy they will broken and rusted etc so get enough to do the front and rear (make sure to install the clips before installing the windows
the rubbers are sealed with 3M bedding and glazing compound(also use the bedding and glazing on the watersheild for doors) a thin coat between the glass and rubber and once the windows seated pump it into the open space let it sit for a few minutes and refill the crevice

okay so im trying to do everything in the right order so i only have to do it once....is it smart to pull the window then do the body wor and spray the primer and stuff....then put them back in before/after paint? also what about the new headliner....? what are the steps i should be taking?
it will be fine to do the body work once the window is out lots less chance of it getting scratched or broken etc, id clean up the lips of the pinchweld spray it with an expoxy primer or runst encapsulator like por15 then top coat it with the color your gonna use to seal it even further, headliner is supposed to go in before the window, i am no upolstery man at all i frankly suck i never could get mine to look right so im gonna just pay to have it installed by the local interior guy well worth the money to have it look right
