Do you consider changing the interior Moding?
So this is probably old news but I'd like peoples opinion.
My '65 A code has standard vinyl white interior with the black dash, black carpet, and glove box. My vehicle is Code = X Vintage Burgundy.
Here's what the interior looks like now... very original:

I'd love to change the interior to the (non-standard) maroon/white pony. I'd probably paint the door the burgundy and have to do stain the same color on the the rear interior quarters to match the door. I don't know that I'd go as far as to cut a hole in the door to put the curtesy lights in. Maybe I'd just get the lenses/frame and glue them on cheater style to make it look like they were in.
What say you?

I will add:
1. Kick panels are slightly crack and need replaced
2. Headliner has a decent sized hole under visor (can't be seen when visor is up) and a small tear in back
3. Cut outs in original panels to put speakers in (I'd say it was done probably back in the 60's)
4. Dash has 1 crack... could maybe be filled
So... I dunno... If I had to replace the dash... and if I replaced the other 3 things... I was thinking heck maybe just do it the way I want and pony it out. Then of course I'd have to paint the original back quarter interior pieces... which would really mess them up.... unless I bought two new ones and just keep the originals. And I'm pretty sure even if I had a professional take those seat coverings off he'd mess them up.[:@]

It's somewhat nitpicky... it's really not to bad. Here's quite a few more pics.

There's a couple interior pics on the first page too

i'm no pro and i removed the original seat covers from our 65 coupe and feel i could put them back with no problem.........if you take your time it can be done....i think changing the interior color or/and style is moding but...it such a minor one...anything you do should be done with you in mind....not us...
also..i painted my 1/4 trim to match due to wear/tear...it pretty simple...
do what makes you happy!

The two-tone looks very sharp imo. In my car there will be more new parts than old parts when it is done next month. Some are replacements of the original theme but some (motor, transmission, differential, suspension, breaks etc.) I installed because I think they are better. If I thought a didfferent color or style of interior was better I would put it in too. However I do think attaching a fake light would be a waste of effort.
Unless there is some outstanding reason for you to keep your car bone stock (where it is a unique car or some historical reason)....then charge away and make it the way you like it. There were over a million 65-66s built. There's nothing you can do the interior that can't be undone.
