Where's the vent? My shop manual doesn't even mention one, nor does it show up on diagrams. ?????

What does this transmission vent do? Is it for fluid expansion and contraction doesn’t the fill tube take care of that?
why are you looking for it?

Someone told me that there's a vent tube or vent cap where fluid will leak from if the tranny is overfilled. I have a leak that I can't find and thought that might be the problem.

Some C4's, especially the ones that went into Broncos, had a vent on top of the transmission. The problem with them, is that when the car or truck gets at a steep angle, the fluid leaks out. Some people have found a fitting and attached a hose to it and routed the hose above the transmission so that this doesn't happen. You may or may not have a vent on your C4, but if you do, here is what it looks like.

OK, thanks. I'll look for it up top. This leak has gotten the best of me. I can't find it, but the Ujoint at the output shaft is always covered with fluid. I pulled the drive shaft and the chamber where the yoke goes into is dry. Go figure!!!!
