66 Shock replacement

Default 66 Shock replacement

Hi guys,
I just got my front and rear gas adjust KYB's in today and am ready to replace the exising ones. Any helpful hints out there?? Come on I know a few of you have a few pointers?? I got a good deal on the $33 bucks each!!

You made a good choice with theKYB's. You may have to have a second set of hands to get the old shocks off, but if not then use a pipe wrench to hold the shock against the inner wheel well in order to get the old shock off.

Where did you get the shocks? I am getting ready to replace mine too.....did you do it yet? What size wheel/rim are you running on your 66? thanks Scott

cj pony parts on a special deal daythat they promote, either maniac Monday or fantastic friday??? I have not replaced them yet. I'll get back to you on the tire sizes.

No, not at all. Just pull the shock out to where you can get a nut on the bolts. The shocks are held together with a white plastic strap. Once you cut that strap, they will expand and you can put them on pretty easily.

i had to jack up the wheels in the front a bit to give me an angle on those nuts from the bottom of the shock
