Default Yesssir.....

2007 is starting out very nicely. Last fall, I found a real inexpensive '73 Fastback.

I just got off the phone with my Dad. He found a '71 and '72 Mach I selling together for a very reasonable price. The '71 is a 351-4V/4sp car, but unfortunately doesn't have the engine or trans...or title.[:@] The '72 isa 351/auto and is a driver. It needs paint from previous damage (fixed by my friend that has the cars), but is straight and runs/drives.

I may have to start selling the shells to someone else that needs a project....that's 3 project shells and a driver projectif you haven't been keeping track. Not to mention the 2 mostly complete projects I have here in Colorado.[&:]

Unfortunately, the reason he's selling is to pay for hospital bills from an illness no one can diagnose.[&o] He does have a complete '73 Fastback that runs low 13's that will likely be offered to me sometime if the illness continues.

Bad way to enhance the collection, but I tend to look on the bright side of things, and I'm sure he'll pull through.

Sorry to hear about your friend. Twice now in my lifetime I have had to raid the mustang fund to pay for medical expenses. On the bright side it does not hurt to be reminded of what is truly important in life, health being perhaps the most important.

NEVER BUY A CAR THAT DOES NOT HAVE A TITLE, unless it's going to be a parts car.

sorry to seem heartless, above. In situations like medical or family crisis, we don't mind paying a few extra dollars to help out. But ya know, getting rid of your hobby is like pouring salt on the wound.

What I'm paying for both is pretty much what the '71 shell is worth. I'm sure I can track down a title if I really wanted to. And I may just do that.

I have no problem with titleless cars...I have 4 of 'em (none stolen...I always have the VIN's checked out).

Never buy a car that doesn't have a title? Why? I have bought many. All you need is a bill of sale. Then you file for a lost title with the DMV. I've gotten some really good deals like that. No title is not a problem.

both time's I've had to get a title was an absolute headache and time consuming. Just went to replace the title on my father's old beast in TX last year, so we could sell it, DMV required certifiedbonding, proof from CA DMV thatrecords no longer existed, etc, etc. Absolute painin the backside.

Well it is a good idea to keep the car in the same state when you are filing for a lost title.
