Default Noisy transmission

I have a 1965 Mustang six-cylinder three-speed in the floor. The transmission has always been noisy with a pronounce whine. I'm told that they used Falcon transmissions and that's about all I can expect. Does anyone know if there is a fix for this? Thanks

Is the noise the loudest in first gear and almost gone in third gear? If so its the bearing on the input shaft.

Thanks for the info. I'm pretty sure it was loud at highway speeds as well as lower speeds. Unfortunately, it is in storage at the moment so I can't really test it to see if the lower gears are actually louder. I'll try it when the weather breaks and get back on the MF. Thanks for your time.
