Well this timing cover is warped, and i tried to have it repaired but it leaks still, dont care what goes on there as long as it will fit . im having a hard time finding a timing cover with the plug in the cover, there is a water jacket in the block that is behinde that.. why is this a mustery part?
I had the early style timing cover and just converted to the newer style with no problems. There is an indentation in the lock that the old timing cover used to cover, but there is nothing there.
yeah i dont see why you need that same cover unless your trying to keep it original. also, how can it be warped so bad that permatex cant fix it? any decent machine shop should be able to mill it and help flatten it out for ya so theres an option. mine had serious pitting where the water pump met - i fixed with jb weld and a block of sand paper, and helicoiled a couple stripped threads. havent had one problem with it. heck, ive jb welded a leaking petcock on the radiator, and a leaking gas tank (which held until the tank rusted next to the jb and i had to get it sealed professionally)
