Default floor pan replacement

Hey everyone!
What a great Day!!! I just purchased a ONE owner 65 convertible. It came with original warranty card , window sticker, tag application, manuel with customer info filled out. His name was Mr patkus and unfornutately he passed away from lung cancer this past week. I would just like to thank him and his family for making such a great car available.
It was meticulously maintained all the records to prove it. It was restored in the 80's to the tune of $16973 in receipts by mustang magic. unfortunately they did a lousy job on the floor pans. The rear of the vehicle is out of alignment. I think on unibody construction, if you do not have the car in "rack" when you weld the pans back in it can throw you out of whack.

Anyway my question is Has anyone had the floorpans redone( stupid question) and if so about how much would it cost to remove perfectly good floor pans and "square" the vehicle and reweld the floor pans? Any guesses???
Thanks Alot,
Michale Coombe

i dont know about re-done when the pans in it are allready good, but alot of members here have put new pans in, then you put the pans in you need to push and line up the frames and tack them into place to keep the alingment in place

Floor pans should not have anything to do with the rear end alignment. The most critical thing on rear end alignment is where the front of the leaf springs bolt to the chasis and the small alignment pins on the top of the spring where the rear end housing sits. The most common problem would be that either the alignment pin was missing when they put it together and guessed where the housing should bolt down or the pin has since sheared off. Don't replace floorboards because the rear end is out of whack. Take it to a GOOD frame shop and they can tell you. Even a good alignment shop may help.

You can just jack the car up and get out a tape measure. Measure from the front leaf spring bolt to the housing on both sides and see if they measure the same.

The rear window on the drivers side is "in" 1/4 inch and the passenger side is "out "1/4 inch. also the drivers side rear "dips" creating a larger gap between the driver door and the fender at the top then the bottom.Meaning the whole rear seems to have moved towards the passenger side 1/4 inch and has tilted back a bit. can the leafs determine where the rear "sits " in relation to the front of the car?

Are you talking about the read windows behind the doors or the back glass? If it is the window behind the door that has nothing to do with body alignment. Those windows need to be adjusted. It's no that hard. I really need some pictures to figure out the rest. The main structural member on those convertables is the inner frame rails. If those were replaced incorrectly you could have some problems.

What I afraid of on your car is that someone has done the inner frame rails incorrectly and the car was not square when they were welded in. They are just inside the rocker panels and only on convertables. they are notorious for rusting out.

Can they be replaced without taking out the floor pans or anything else out?
