How do i adjust timing on 302
Get a timing light, a piece of white chalk or whiteout, and a distributor wrench. Hook up the timing light to #1 cylinder. Mark the timing mark on the balancer at the 3rd mark with the chalk, and mark the tip of the pointer that is on the bottom of the timing cover. Loosen the distributor bolt. Start the engine. Point the timing gun to the white mark and pull the trigger. You will then turn the distributor until the pointer and the white line line up with each other. Kill the engine and tighten down the distributor bolt.
Hey Papi.....after you get it timed, get a pertronix electronic module and replace your points andcondenserwith that. You will be amazed at the difference in performance. They only cost about 65 bux.
