Where to mount MSD Coil
I need to know where to mount this new MSD coil. The main problem is that the bracket requires two bolts unlike the stock one and I can't use the stock one because the new coil is too thin. I put a pic up of the new bracket below. Has anyone else used this bracket?
I don't know where you mount it in a convenient place that is near your distributor. The ones I have seen were mounted on the apron next to the 65A box. That requires a lot of wires going from that area to the distributor. Your other choice would be to use the existing mount, but then you wouldn't have that MSD logo on the side where nobody can see it anyway.
If the new coil is too thin to fit into the existing mount, then use your southern engineering experience and wrap something around the new coil to take up the extra space. Down south, we use a lot of tape.
Not real sure why you think you need an MSD system in the first place flat tire.

I definitely don't need an MSD system but I'm a wasteful and stupid teenager
. Also, because I'm a newb...what is the 65a box? I have this crazy feeling that you don't have a whole lot of tape holding your Mustang together so I'm going to try and hold off on it it mine. I guess that's just not how we roll up north [8D]

I found a spare screw hole in the front of a head can be used for this. You don't really need to use both slots because one is enough and there is usually a 'natural' resting position to be had.
The MSD 6A or 6AL box is what they are famous for, multiple spark discharges per power stroke. More complete combustion and power. More important for modified engines.

Is that spare hole on your 69? Maybe a 351? I don't have that extra hole on my 65 289. But you are right. The MSD system is for modified engines, an engine that flat tire doesn't have.

On my last Mustang I bent one of the tabs 180* over so that the two slotted holes kind of overlapped each other and used one bolt. If you don't like that then just cut off one of the tabs.
i got a msd setup on my 289 and i liked it over my ignitor ya the price sucked but i was planning on modifying my engine and with the emissions BS they got here modeled after the old cali emissions its a pain to pass

. I'll look into that today...
