Panel Adhesive - Who has Used?
I've got some body work I need to eventually get around to. Cars not too bad now but has filler patches over rust in some some spots. Eventuallywant to putnew door skins, lower quarters, and cowl in. Only part I'm hesitant doing my self is the welding.Pretty handy but never real it did it. Done a lot of drywalling so I think I can handle the filler part. And not too concerned about cutting out old panels.
I've been reading more about panel adhesives now being used and sounds like a good alternative for the welding challenged. Just curious if anyone has any experience with and what they have found out.

yes u can use structural adhesive to replace panels and they actually offer alot of corrision resistance and are just as strong and sometimes stronger than welds need to contact the local auto body supplier and see what fits your need u can also get them at www.abtm.com
yes on the structual adheasives! it will work really good on getting your panels bonded together, use 50 grit to grid down the edges of the panels to be bonded together and clamp them to eachother and wait overnight and [sm=happy046.gif]they are bonded. Being in the body shop business and working with the ASE and I-CAR industries they have found that some of the glue is actuallly stronger then welds on fail tests. but the down sides are if you have to do any body work (which ytou will) filler will not stick to it, if not prepped right, and you cannot apply primer and paint to it without some filler work. It will dry to the floor of your shop and you will have to chisel it off! use it smart and not in excess and you will be alright. use either duramix or 3M products! they are the best on the market! 3M panel adheasive is #8115.
i used to use that one? http://www.autobodytoolmart.net/default.aspx?skinid=1
