Default Performance Upgrade!

Got a 69 fastback with a 351 windsor, and FMX trasmission. 3.00 to 1 rear, The engine needs rebuilding, and I am thinking of doing a 427 stroker? I am looking for at least 400 - 450hp, not sure if I will be using the stock heads or not. My question is will me stock FMX transmission be able to handel up to 450hp at the flywheel?

i would think it matters how you drive it?
if thats an original 69 351W, you have good heads, port them suckers out and stroke that puppy - you'll be lovin life

Well if I use the stock heads and port them, I will probably get 400 - 410hp, reliable hp, and I plan to have my foot in it! I just don't want to get into upgrading to a C6 if I don't have to.

I am just trying to figure out how much HPa stock FMX transmission is good for?

Hey Uwti....You haven't been around for awhile. Where's that 67 GT500 of yours? I don't have an FMX tranny, but guys on here swear they can't break them.

Yeah theyleak more than they break. Cast iron and aluminum expand at different rates, so leaks happen. But they are relativley tough.. A built C4 will handle 450 no problem, a well built stock FMX should too.

Correct me if i'm wrong, but I was led to believe The FMX was actually stronger than the C6, but the C6 was strong enough, lighter, and cheaper to manufacture.
