Default Abrasive Blaster

okay i was gonna buy a spot blaster and use it to blast some parts on my car such as the door jambs and the area between the door hinges and the from wheels and under the top of the cowl...i think u know what i mean....anyways...i got to thinking, yeah it would probably work for those areas, but i might as well spend a bit more and get a big sand blaster and just have it so i can use it for when i repaint my engine compartment too and other stuff like that.....

do you think that would be decent?

I used the spot blaster to clean my seat frames. It worked well but was a pain having to reload every 30 seconds. A larger hopper is better.

Make sure you sue the aluminiumu oxide compound to blast with. The glass beads will take forever to clean off anything.

I also used one from HF with glass bead. Worked fine for the engine bay, not tried the doors. Whatever material you use, it gets into everything, so airblast later to get rid of any residual material from the car, spray down with a hose, then airblast again, especially where you will paint.
I also have a $100 blast cabinet from HF, what a timesaver.

I may seem redundent but WEAR A MASK. If you use sand especially, Silcon sand is VERY hard on your lungs. It can really tear you up. I only use ground garnet stone. Just my .2

I can't believe you guys are still buying the cheap crap from Harbor Freight. Buy you books, send you to school, and you still can't read.

HF had the 20lb pressurized on clearance for $39. As "some" have said if you know what you are buying from HF then you can get good deals,. There are good deals to get you just have to be a little smarter then the avg joe. For instance a $19air nailer??? I have used it in a side business for 6 years (Deal or no Deal????Deal)The sand blaster was awesome and did the engine compartment in one evening. Look on their online store and go to clearance, this is where you will find the better deals.

Don't buy the import crap!

There is one spot blaster that works, it is sold by Snap-On. It is made by Unitec and is called a Speed Blaster model 007. You can run several diffrent types of abrasive, and it has a ceramic nozzle that costs about $8 to replace.

Google Speedblaster 007 and you should find it for about $45.00 (DONT BUY IT FROM SNAP-ON UNLESS YOU FEEL LIKE SPENDING $70)

Here are a couple places selling it for about $45
